I was looking for a very
small dinghy that I could take along on our 26'
wooden sailboat, "Northern Light" when traveling on
Lake Huron. I wanted something with a classic design
that would row well and be easy to tow behind the
sailboat. I settled on the "Polliwog"
design as it was small and light enough to haul up
onto the fore deck of the sailboat if the water got
too rough. I built her in the spring of 1998 of
marine grade plywood using WEST System epoxy,
trimmed in solid oak. The oars are from the folks at
Barkley Sound in Canada and she does row very well
for a small boat. We named her "Aurora" and took her
with us on a 300 mile trip from Bay City to Presque
Isle and back in June of this year and was very
happy with her.
