The Surf Scoter is a
semi-displacement power boat offering comfortable
cruising at a respectable speed of 12 to 17 knots. She
is a traditional appearing pilothouse design with a
flush deck forward. Full headroom and an inside steering
station are just a couple of her features. The Surf
Scoter has been designed around a 90 hp. outboard that
runs in a well at the aft end of the cockpit. This power
gives her speeds up to 17 knots, with 12 knots being a
very comfortable and quiet cruising speed.
The cockpit is self-bailing
and under its sole rests a 54 gallon fuel tank, enough
for many miles. The pilothouse is entered through a
sliding 24" companionway door with the galley to port
and the helm seat to starboard. The pilothouse feels
spacious and airy. The large berth forward is 6' wide
and over 7' long with sitting headroom throughout. For
ventilation and quick foredeck access, there is a 24" x
24" hatch in the flush deck. Just aft of the stem is a
self-bailing, recessed well deck. Anchoring and line
handling can be done while protected, standing in the
hatchway with everything easily at hand.
The Surf Scoter's displacement
is 4100 lbs. with fuel and water. She carries almost 50
gallons of water as interior ballast. This is potable
water and is plumbed into the freshwater system on the
Scoter. Imagine cruising at twice the speed of sailboats
or full displacement type hulls in comfort.
She is also available with a
Volvo Penta 102 HP diesel inboard with a sterndrive. Top
speed is increased to 18 - 20 knots at 4,500 RPM with a
cruising speed of 16 knots at 4,000 RPM.
