THE COCKPIT AND TRANSOM
CAME IN FOR A FEW CHANGES ALSO. I SHIFTED THE FUEL
TANK FROM THE MIDDLE OF THIS AREA TO ONE EACH SIDE
OF THE LONGITUDINALS AND PUT A FLAT SOLE BETWEEN THE
TWO FOR A WET STORAGE AREA, YOU KNOW WET SUITE.
FENDERS. ROPES, DIVE GEAR ETC. ALL THE STUFF YOU
DON'T WANT IN THE CABIN. A BOARDING PLATFORM WAS
ADDED TO THE TRANSOM, WE DO A LOT OF DIVING AND YOU
NEED TO COME AND GO EASILY. ALONG WITH THIS I CUT A
STEP-THRU ACCESS IN THE PORT SIDE OF THE TRANSOM AND
FINISHED IT OF WITH THE SAME TRIM AS THE REST OF THE
BOAT. JARRA OUTSIDE NZ. RIMU INSIDE. THIS IS GREAT
FOR GETTING INTO AND OUT OF THE BOAT ON ITS TRAILER
TO . ON THE STBD SIDE OF THE COCKPIT WE HAVE A SEAT
WITH A LIFT UP LID. THIS IS WHERE THE PORTA LOO SITS,
DURING THE DAY
BACK TO THE CABIN. THE
DASH BULKHEAD CAME IN FOR SOME CHANGES TO
ACCOMMODATE ALL THE TOYS I WANTED TO PUT IN. THE
PORT SIDE WAS CUT DOWN A BIT TO OPEN UP THAT SIDE ,
ROUNDED AND CAPPED OFF WITH A BIT OF TRIM. THE STBD.
SIDE WAS CUT DOWN AND A FALSE FRONT ADDED 6 INCHES
BACK TO ALLOW ROOM FOR THE HYDRAULIC STEERING UNIT.
THEN THIS IS SLOPED UP TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FRONT
WINDOW TO ACCOMMODATE THE TOYS. THIS DASH PANEL
HINGES BACK FROM THE TOP TO ALLOW EASY ACCESS TO ALL
THE BUS BOARDS AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS AND STUFF
UNDER THE DASH..
THE TOYS ARE TWO ENGINE
INSTRUMENTS. A BULGE PUMP SWITCH. 2 D.C OUTLETS, A
12 SWITCH CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL FOR NAV. LIGHTS,
INTERIOR LIGHTS, DECK LIGHTS , WIPERS, ETC. ETC. A
V.H.F. RADIO. AN AM/FM TAPE DECK RADIO. CD PLAYER ,A
GSP HOOKED UP TO A DUEL FREQUENCY SOUNDER THE
SOUNDER HAS SOME NAV. FUNCTIONS IN IT SO ALL THE
INFO. CAN BE ON ONE SCREEN.. A SECOND GPS WITH A
FUEL COMPUTER HOOKED INTO THE FUEL LINE. A FIRE
EXTINGUISHER AND A SMALL COMPASS ON TOP OF THE DASH.
ON THE BACK OF THE DASH IS A NIGHT LIGHT OVER THE
FRONT BUNK.
UNDER THE HELM SEAT IS AN
INSULATED ICE BOX WITH MORE STORAGE UNDER. THAT
AGAIN, AND THE GALLEY IS JUST ONE SMALL KNIFE DRAWER
AND TWO STORAGE BINS. UNDER A SMALL BENCH THIS AREA
IS STILL DEVELOPING
WITH ALL THE CHOPPING AND
CHANGING I THOUGHT IT PRUDENT TO ADD MORE FLOORS
THAN WAS ON THE PLANS ALL BOLTED THRU THE HARD WOOD
KEEL AND SOME EXTRA FLOORS WERE ADDED AFT OF THE
CABIN BULKHEAD UNDER THE WET DECK STORAGE. I
FIBERGLASSED THE WHOLE OF THE INSIDE OF THE HULL AS
WELL AS THE OUTSIDE. AND ADDED EXTRA PART BULKHEADS
INTO STORAGE AREAS FULLY ATTACHED TO THE HULL. THE
WATER TANKS HAVE NOT HAD THERE LIDS GLASSED ON AS
YET SO WE ONLY CARRY WATER IN MOVEABLE CONTAINERS AT
THIS STAGE. (DON'T SEEM TO DRINK A LOT OF WATER ON
OUR TRIPS, MORE THE OTHER STUFF)) ALTHOUGH I ADDED A
BIT OF LEAD UNDER THE FRONT CABIN SOLE WE ARE STILL
A BIT LIGHT.
I OPTED FOR THE YAMAHA 90
WHICH IS MORE THAN ENOUGH POWER. THE ONLY PROBLEM
WITH THE ENGINE INSTALLATION WAS THE COCKPIT
LONGITUDINALS WERE ABOUT 2 INCHES TOO CLOSE TOGETHER
TO ALLOW THE HYDRAULIC STEERING RAM FULL TRAVEL BOTH
WAYS SO WE SOLVED THAT BY CUTTING A HOLE IN ONE SIDE
AND JUST GLASS CLOTHING THE OUT SIDE. WITH THE
ENGINE IN THE TILT POSITION IT LOOKED LIKE THE
ENGINE LID MIGHT LOOK A BIT HIGH, SO I SLOPPED THE
FRONT , BACK AND SIDES IN AND IT LOOKS OK. I HAVE A
SMALL DROP DOWN TABLE HINGED ONTO THE FRONT OF THIS
LID . THIS ACTS AS BAIT BOARD/DRINKS TABLE/DINING
TABLE ETC.
