I built 16ft long pocket cruiser called "Nancy's China". She is designed by Samuel Devlin. She has small cabin and 250lbs ballast in her bilge. She is an excellent boat for camping trips. You can put all camping gear into cabin and you have lots of space in cockpit. But she is not for racing. She is quite heavy and that means she is stable. Seldom you even have to touch the main sheet when gust comes. I started to build in June 1997 and I finished her in June 1999. It took about 500 hours to finish her and it cost about $4500 (with sails and hardware etc.). Samuel Devlin's plans were excellent and I did not have any big problems during building. Devlin has also written a book about boatbuilding which is also great.

View from aft to stern. Notice the centerboard trunk. It is my major modification. Devlin has included a daggerboard in plans but I wanted a centerboard because we have lots of underwater rocks here in Finland. The centerboard is safer if (when) you hit a rock!

I am finishing deck and outside of the hull. I kept finishing minimum. I like a "workboat" look.

The launching day! It was one of most exciting day in my life. There was so many things to keep in mind.

Camping in Finnish Gulf. We have large archipelago so you can always find an island where you can camp in peace.
